Bolt from the blue is a short animation inspired by the words of Oliver Sacks telling the story of Tony Cicoria, an American surgeon. Dr. Cicoria was struck by lightning, which caused him cardiac arrest. After his recovery, he suddenly developed an "insatiable passion to hear piano music, and then to play piano music" (Sacks, 2007).
The full story is included in Sacks' book Musicophilia: Tales of Music and the Brain, chapter 1 - Bolt from the blue.
